September Program - Ross'es Ride Across America!

When:  Thursday evening, September 6, 2018, 7pm
Where:  Hardesty Regional Library, Maple Meeting Room

In the fall of 2017, Club member Ross Snider joined a Transamerica tour, riding from the Pacific coast to the Atlatic over the course of several weeks.

Ross will share stories and photos from this "bucket list" trip with us on September 6th.  He has hundreds of photos and an equal number of stories.

So, whether this is the sort of trip you're interested in getting involved in or you're just an "arm-chair" bicycle traveler, you won't wan to miss this program.

Hope to see you there!

Avery Drive Cleanup

What's this all about???
For many years the Club has participated in the State of Oklahoma's "Adopt-A-Road" program.  As a public service project, groups and organizations "adopt" a length of state or county highway and "clean it up" a couple of times a year.

The Tulsa Bicycle Club has "adopted" a mile-and-a-half section of Avery Drive west of downtown Tulsa, a common route for local cyclists including the infamous "Wednesday Night Ride."

What we do:  Collect litter along the Avery Drive right-of-way
When do we do it:  Twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall
Where do we meet:  In the "green" area circumscribed by the intersections of Avery Drive, Hwy 51 and Hwy 97 near Sand Springs
What's provided:  The club provides gloves, pick-up-sticks, trash bags, and beverages & snacks following
How long does it take:  We meet at 6pm and are generally done within an hour to an hour and a half
Note:  Dress appropriately.  Long sleeves and pants are advised as is bright colored clothing.

Insert your name here?!

So, you say, who's captaining the ship in 2018?  If you missed the Holiday Gathering where the 2018 officers were announced, you may not have gotten the word.  Our apologies for not having communicated this information sooner.

Shown above are the names and faces of the Tulsa Bicycle Club executive committee for 2018.

Our thanks to last year's officers; Bob Restor, Tammy Duckworth, Ross Snider and Larry Thompson.  They piloted us through 2017.  Ross Snider stepped down after more than a decade as secretary and Larry Thompson is finally getting a break after stepping in when long-time TBC treasurer John Ross bowed out several years ago.  Give them your thanks for their service the next time you see them at a ride or Club gathering.

2018 is the first year in recent memory that the officer group is entirely new with no returning members!  So cut us some slack as we endeavor to step up and carry the torch.

Don't be shy about stepping in and lending a hand, offering suggestions and taking part.  We will be calling on you!

Go to the Contact Us page if you need to reach any of us to share your thoughts!
